Microwaves have long been the realm of the experimenter, who remembers ‘Microwaves from a mustard tin’ http://archive.retro.co.za/archive/amateur/MicrowavesWithAMustardTin.pdf and that challenge remains in part. Changes in the semiconductor industry have made things like stable Local oscillators almost trivial, whilst the surplus wonderland provided by de-commissioned uW data links and UMTS base station upgrades have made it even easier. This is the story of my ongoing adventures in microwaves
